The state of Colorado is looking for individuals who are interested in:

  • participation in a citizen-led commission focused on issues impacting older Coloradans
  • policy development that empowers and supports older Coloradans
  • ensuring that Colorado is the best state in which to grow old by working to implement strategies aligned with the Strategic Action Plan on Aging and Lifelong Colorado initiative

In 2022, the modernization of the Older Americans Act (HB22-1035) provided an opportunity to recruit new members to the expanded Colorado Commission on Aging (CCOA). The Act also provides more guidance to the CCOA on its work and how the state, the departments, and various programs will work to support aging Coloradans now and in the future. The new Commission will be composed of all newly selected members and will start on September 1, 2022.

The approximate time commitment for serving on the CCOA includes virtual monthly meetings with a total volunteer time requirement per member of 8-10 hours a month. While the official application deadline was May 20th, 2022 – the state is continuing to accept applications.

For more details, please visit CDHS website (notice is on the right side of the page) and see the background and interest of applicants that will be considered. To apply, visit the Colorado Boards and Commissions website, select “Aging, Colorado Commission on the”, and complete the application.
